DAY 1

RIVER NAVIGATION - VISIT TO THE OBSERVATION TOWER - WILDLIFE OBSERVATION - KAYAKING (OPTIONAL)

Your journey begins with a scenic 30-minute flight across the Eastern Andes to Puerto Francisco de Orellana, also known as El Coca. From the dock, we will continue with a comfortable two-hour boat ride along the Napo River in spacious covered motorboats designed for safety and relaxation. During the trip, a box lunch will be provided.

Once you arrive at Yasuní Ecolodge, you will step into the ancestral lands of the Kichwa Añangu Community, set within the extraordinary biodiversity of Yasuní National Park. Our staff will greet you with a traditional guayusa drink, followed by a short briefing from the lodge manager about the services and facilities.

You will then be shown to your comfortable cabin, where you can enjoy beautiful views of the Ecuadorian Amazon. In the afternoon, your first rainforest experience begins with a hike to the observation tower, standing 45 meters above the forest floor. From this impressive viewpoint, you may spot colorful birds, howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, toucans, parrots, and sloths, while enjoying a spectacular sunset over the Amazon canopy.

As an alternative activity, you may choose a kayaking experience along the calm waters of the Napo River, a wonderful way to admire the changing colors and peaceful atmosphere of the rainforest.

DAY 2

RIVER NAVIGATION - VISIT TO OUR PARROT AND PARAKEET CLAY LICKS - GUIDED NATURE WALK - KICHWA CULTURAL EXCHANGE - WILDLIFE OBSERVATION - BIRDWATCHING - NIGHT WALK

After breakfast, we will travel by motorized canoe to one of the most remarkable attractions in the Yasuní Biosphere Reserve: the Parrot Clay Licks.

At the first clay lick, we will remain in the boat to observe flocks of parrots as they gather along the riverbanks to feed on mineral-rich clay. Common species seen in this area include Mealy Parrots, Blue-headed Parrots, Yellow-crowned Parrots, and Dusky-headed Parakeets.

Our journey then continues into the primary terra firme forest. After a short hike of approximately 20 minutes, we will reach a second clay lick, often visited by parakeets and macaws. Carefully protected by the Kichwa Añangu Community, this site is considered one of the most important places for wildlife observation in the region.

Later, we will visit the Kuri Muyu Interpretation Center, whose name means “Golden Seed” in the local language.

Managed by the community’s women, known as Mamakunas, this cultural center offers a meaningful opportunity to connect with members of the Kichwa Añangu Community and learn about their traditions, music, dances, and ancestral knowledge of natural resources. You will also have time to visit the boutique, where beautiful handmade crafts created by local artisans are available.

After lunch at the lodge and some time to rest, we will set out on an afternoon hike along terra firme trails. This walk offers excellent chances to observe primates such as the Golden-mantled Tamarin and the Red Titi Monkey.

Following dinner, you may join a guided night walk with flashlights to explore the rainforest after dark. This activity reveals a completely different side of the jungle, where insects, reptiles, and amphibians become active in the nocturnal forest.

DAY 3

PADDLED CANOE EXPLORATION - GUIDED NATURE WALK - WILDLIFE OBSERVATION - VISIT TO THE OBSERVATION TOWER - ANCESTRAL CATAMARAN RIDE (OPTIONAL)

To preserve the peaceful atmosphere of this unique ecosystem, we will continue the journey in quiet, paddle-powered canoes.

Guided by our staff, you will navigate narrow creeks surrounded by lush vegetation, offering excellent opportunities to observe wildlife such as monkeys, caimans, and the impressive Giant Otter.

In the afternoon, you can choose between two memorable experiences. You may return to the observation tower for another chance to admire wildlife from above the forest canopy, or enjoy a relaxing ride on a traditional ancestral catamaran, where you will discover Kichwa legends and chants while taking in the beauty of the river landscape.
